Photo Essay

From what I had as a propasol I have changed my mind a little due to some technical difficulties. Nontheless my essay take a look at tools that a dj uses to rock a party. This can also be used as a history lesson for some, that might not know all of these different peices of equipment even exist or ever did.

As with records and turntables and what is avaible now out on the market with ipods. There is very little need for one to be so hands on with djing, when something like an ipod and keep tunes running for days if you wanted it to. No need to pick up a need to flip the record to the next side. Easy organization with a search menu. All these nice feature help you hear more music.

But does one actually listen to more music this way alot of people think that having to listen to records actually makes you listen to the music more since there is more work envolved in the process of getting it to play. You can only listen to so much before you actually have to switch the record.

As the times change we will see how long the turntable and its records will actually be able to hang around. But as it seems they are still doing a very good job holding to a good size of the population that still has respect for such items.

Photo Essay Proposal

As an extension on what I was doing for Document project. I was taking a look in to how you can make good photography while someone is actually doing photograpy themselves. For this final project I would like to take a look at some of the same goals while also exploring what can be said with a photo essay.

As she prepare for her day of shooting then moves on to the actual place of shooting, then actually taking the photos herself. I think you wil be able to see that something that a photogragher does in there everyday life. That for some this might come as second nature, what to take a picture of and how they get prepared. While other might need a lot of time and have to go through hardships sending there last to buy a roll of film.

Portrait Project

When taking the pictures for this project I found myself very out of place just running up to people trying to take pictures of them. It kinda of made me think more about the article I read about privacy and how maybe it should or shouldnt be given to the indivual when taking pictures. But as I took them I was thinking to myself that I would not care if someone was taking pictures of me, but do they care?

Also another struggle I ran into was with Abigail the girl I took pictures of she didnt seem like she wanted to be there and it also was hard to tell her to stand her or go there for different shots. There is a lot that changes from taking pictures of just objects that have no life and people that acutally have an opinion on what you are doing.

Overal I thought this project was a good one for breaking new boundaries and seeing what is possible when you have fun controll on one side of the project an none on the other.

Document Project

When understanding what you are trying to do with a certain field of work or and job or task it is good to take a look at what someone is already doing in the same line of work. I thought that taking a look at how a photographer that I really like the work, and showing what it looks like when she work.

Also how she actually looks like in the photo that I am taking rather than what the photos look like that she is taking. It was good to see her move from spot to spot in such a small area as she picked apart the great parts of little bit of land she had to work with.

I was able to learn alot in the way that she atually frames her work and takes time to make sure that each and every picture is taking with the most amount of care and thought. Then she looks at what she has done before giving it an approval and moving on to the next step.

Document Proposal

Taking a look at what we are actually doing is going to be the basis of the document. Looking into what we ourselves as photographers or just people that like to take pictures look like when were are studying a subject, before and after we take a picture. There is a process by which this all needs to be done.

Abigail Benavides is an amazing photographer that I know that actually inspired me to take this class. That would work well to document and see what she looks like as she works and picks what to take photograph. Also what she looks like in the picture as she is framed in the work of mine, because she is what I am documenting.

This will show that there is purpose and place for both the viewer and the photographer and that the person taking the picture is also a contribution to the bigger picture of what people see around her.
